Impact on Student Success

Throughout this school year, I had many opportunities to witness student success and achievement. To increase student engagement I incorporated  verbal praise and encouragement and built a class community and culture. One of my favorite physical education activities this year was teaching students how to use dance skills to complete the high jump. Students encouraged and cheered for one another as they each took a turn on the high jump. One specific example of students' achievement was allowing students to evaluate their own progress. At the beginning of the semester, students were asked to write down three personal goals and two goals related to dance or physical education. Students tracked their progress throughout the semester and were able to monitor their own personal growth both physically and mentally.
